Speak - Say what you need to say
Lays Lightly Salted...
Matthews
5:13-16 (ESV)
Salt and
Light
13 “You
are the salt of the earth, kbut if salt has lost its taste,
how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except
to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 l“You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15
mNor do people light a lamp and
put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light
shine before others, so nthat2 they may see your good works and
ogive glory to your Father who is
in heaven.
How about - Lightly Salted? Yes I am comparing "speaking" (saying what you need to say) to 'n packet of Lays Lightly Salted Chips.
Imagine this, you have a friend who's breath is awful and you have to say something because it is terrible. At first you are the closed packet of Lightly Salted Chips, full of air. The contents including the air symbolised that which you are now keeping for yourself. When you open the packet of Lightly Salted Chips the air comes out along with the light smell of salt. You reach in and you take a few chips and then you bite - *crunch*. After eating all the chips you feel pleased. When you shed some light over the breath issue you are opening up and it might not be a pleasant thing for your friend to hear at first (salt - yes it tastes good but put it on your wounds - ouch... but later it is for the better). You may even decide to increase the amount of light your shedding and suggest a brand of toothpaste or mouthwash to your friend ... ooohhh *crunch*. At the end your friend will be pleased that you spoke up because now your friend can do something about the breath issue and you can feel pleased.
So be lightly salted but don't keep it inside too long. Don't wait until it is too late to open up because the taste of the chips will not be so salty anymore. It might even taste bitter.
I leave you with the words of John Mayer - "Say"
Have no fear for giving in

I leave you with the words of John Mayer - "Say"
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You'd better know that in the end
It's better to say too much
Then never to say what you need to say
Even if your hands are shaking
and your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say
